Suggestions for Revision of Outline:

  • Make sure you have your claim in your thesis statement
  • include an introduction (with background information if applicable)
  • include evidence for your argument
  • counterargument (you don't have to mention it, but you DO have to REFUTE it with evidence)
  • use your strongest or 2nd strongest argument to refute
  • include a conclusion that reminds your audience why they should listen to you & believe you have a point
  • MAKE SURE that you cite your sources, use " " when you've used info directly from sources - use parenthetical / in-text citations for each point in your outline.
  • MAKE sure that annotated bibliography is complete and corrected
  • put bibliography in alphabetical order by author's last name; if no author, use title, but skip "the" or "an" or "a" when alphabetizing
  • cut and paste annotated bibliography to the end of your outline
  • put a heading on your paper
  • Every reliable source should be cited in your paper preferably multiple times. No one paragraph or # in the outline should be supported by just one source.
